ocr: Mongolian towns are the fruit of communist planning and have not really been able to adapt to the Mongolian culture. Their streets have nomarket, no shops, no stalls, no life at all. They are generally soulless shanty towns. No heating, little food, intermittent electricity, unemployment, alcoholism and acts of violence punctuate the daily life of the town's inhabitants. But they all dream of video recorders and Mercedes. And not one of them, even if they were dying of hunger, would want to go back to live in the countryside.
